FIRST-YEAR FELLOWSHIPS:

ELIGIBILITY

Each year, the Research in Color Foundation, in collaboration with our partners, will award 2500 USD first-year fellowships to all former Research in Color mentees who have successfully completed the mentorship program, and have gone on to start a PhD program in economics or an economics-adjacent field. These fellowships aim to address the second prong of the RIC mission — to improve the retention of historically underrepresented scholars in economics. By providing an unrestricted fellowship to help with costs incidental to starting a PhD program (i.e., moving costs, books, and other resources) we aim to support our scholars both as they apply to a PhD (through the mentorship program) and during their PhD (through the first-year fellowship).
